The Business Journal is profiling the honorees for its 2025 Best Real Estate Projects awards. The Ivy at Blue Oaks is the honoree in the Senior Living category.
When the team behind Oakmont Senior Living conceptualized and planned its latest community in Roseville, there were specific goals: meeting the demand for senior living, designing features that promote sustainability and constructing a facility that balanced function with a sense of familiarity.
For Carissa Savant, vice president of development at O&I Development, that latter goal is fundamental to the success of Ivy at Blue Oaks, a new upscale assisted living and memory care community in Roseville.
Whether it’s community spaces for socialization or a dining room that offers full-fledged service and an array of menu choices, it’s vital the Ivy’s residents are at ease, she says.
“We want our communities to have a residential feel — it needs to feel like home,” Savant said. “I’m thinking of my mom and dad; they’re going to be going to the same place to eat 365 days a year.”
The two-story Ivy has 100 units, which include studios, and one- or two-bedroom apartments for assisted living as well as 30 shared units for memory care residents. Currently, the complex is at 90% occupancy.
Outdoors there’s a spacious courtyard and ample walking paths. Eco-friendly features include water-wise landscaping and LED lighting.
Shared space features include several dining options such as a bistro, bar and lounge. There’s also a salon, an activity room and a fitness and wellness center.
“We want to make sure our residents are engaged,” Savant said. “These amenities allow for socialization; it’s important to have these spaces.”
