The Business Journal is profiling the honorees for the Best Real Estate Projects of the Year Awards. Regency at Folsom Ranch Clubhouse is the honoree in the Recreation category.
The goal of the clubhouse at Regency at Folsom Ranch housing development is to bring together residents of the 55-plus gated community.
The 18,000-square-foot clubhouse sits on a previously undeveloped 5-acre parcel at 3561 Olive Orchard Drive. It’s within the city of Folsom’s burgeoning development area south of Highway 50.
At the center of the clubhouse is a social hall with an indoor-outdoor bar — an ideal mingling spot for neighbors, said Ryan Eshelman, a principal with project architect GSB Inc.
Although the clubhouse doesn’t have a restaurant, it’s piloting a “grab and go” concept, in which residents pick up items from a snack bar and pay by swiping their resident card.
The facility’s seven pickleball courts are next to a pavilion where residents can socialize before or after a match. There’s also a bocce ball court.
A fitness center gives residents a place to work out away from the 25-year-olds they might feel uncomfortable around at the local gym, Eshelman said.
Residents can cool off in the outdoor pool, which has poolside seating for further socializing. An indoor lap pool includes a ramp for those with restricted mobility.
The single-story clubhouse was built with a combination of wood stud and steel column framing. Flat roofs and expansive windows contribute to the contemporary design, which is meant to give the facility a vibrant feel, Eshelman said.
The clubhouse serves residents of 919 homes in Toll Brothers’ Regency at Folsom Ranch development.
“The clubhouse is an outstanding design and has created a wonderful amenity that has really enhanced the unique community that Toll Brothers has created in Folsom Ranch,” said city of Folsom communications director Christine Brainerd.
